Oxygen therapy is a treatment that provides a casualty with extra oxygen or aids in
their recovery. Normally lungs absorb oxygen from the air, however some illnesses and conditions prevent enough oxygen from being adsorbed. By using a face mask and/or a bag and mask, this can delivery oxygen of concentrations up to 98%. |
A heart attack is a serious medical emergency where the supply of blood to the heart is suddenly blocked. Early symptoms can include chest pain, shortness of breath and anxiety. If the casualty has collapsed, an automated external defibrillator may save the person's life. The AED checks heart rhythm and determines whether an electric shock is needed to restart the heart.
